 Pre-Umrah Preparation

 Umrah Visa Requirements

Before traveling to Saudi Arabia, ensure you have a valid Umrah visa. The required documents typically include:
A valid passport (with at least 6 months validity)
Recent passport-sized photographs
Flight and hotel bookings
Vaccination certificates (Meningitis & COVID-19, if applicable)
Travel insurance (recommended)

 Packing Checklist

Packing smartly ensures a comfortable trip. Some essentials include:
Ihram (for men) & modest Islamic attire (for women)
Comfortable footwear (for walking between Safa and Marwah)

 Health & Vaccination Guidelines

Saudi authorities require Meningitis vaccination for all pilgrims. It’s also advisable to carry essential medications and stay hydrated, especially during warmer months.

 Airport & Immigration Process

Upon arrival in Saudi Arabia, follow these key steps:
Go through immigration and show your Umrah visa
Collect your luggage and pass customs
Arrange transportation to your hotel in Makkah or Madinah

Local Transport & Accommodation

Umrah pilgrims can choose from private transport, group shuttles, or taxis to reach their destination. Most Umrah packages include convenient hotel accommodations near Masjid Al-Haram and Masjid Al-Nabawi for easy access.

 Currency Exchange & SIM Cards

Exchanging currency in Saudi Riyals (SAR) is recommended before traveling. For communication, you can buy a local SIM card at the airport or hotel reception.

 Step-by-Step Umrah Rituals

 Ihram & Intention (Niyyah)

Before entering Makkah, pilgrims must wear Ihram (two white unstitched sheets for men, modest attire for women) and make the intention (Niyyah) to perform Umrah. Reciting the Talbiyah (“Labbayk Allahumma Labbayk”) marks the beginning of your pilgrimage.

 Tawaf – Circling the Kaaba

Upon reaching Masjid Al-Haram, perform Tawaf by circling the Kaaba seven times in an anti-clockwise direction while reciting duas.

 Tip: If it’s too crowded, performing Tawaf from the upper floors is a good option.

 Sa’i – Walking Between Safa & Marwah

After Tawaf, pilgrims walk seven times between the hills of Safa and Marwah to commemorate Hajra (AS)’s search for water for her son, Ismail (AS).

 Recommended Dua: “Rabbighfir warham wa anta al-‘azzul-akram” (O Allah, forgive and have mercy, You are the Most Honorable).”

 Halq/Taqsir – Completing Umrah

The final step of Umrah is Halq (shaving the head for men) or Taqsir (trimming the hair for women), symbolizing spiritual purification. After this, pilgrims exit Ihram, completing their Umrah.

 Etiquettes & Religious Guidelines

 Respectful Conduct in the Haramain

Lower your voice and maintain proper etiquette in Masjid Al-Haram & Masjid Al-Nabawi
Be kind and respectful to fellow pilgrims
Avoid photography inside prayer areas where restricted

 Recommended Duas & Prayers

Some important duas include:
Dua at the Multazam (between the Kaaba door and Hajr-e-Aswad)
Dua of Tawaf & Sa’i
Durood Sharif at Rawdah Mubarak in Madinah

 Visiting Masjid Al-Nabawi

Pilgrims traveling to Madinah should:
Offer salaam to Prophet Muhammad ﷺ at Rawdah Mubarak
Pray at Riyadh-ul-Jannah (one of the gardens of Jannah)
Visit Jannat-ul-Baqi (the resting place of Sahabah and family members of the Prophet ﷺ)

 Post-Umrah & Returning Home

 Ziyarat (Religious Tours)

Pilgrims can visit historical sites, including:
Jabal Al-Noor (Cave of Hira – Where the first revelation came)
Jabal Al-Thawr (Cave where Prophet ﷺ hid during migration)
Mina, Arafat & Muzdalifah (Important places for Hajj)
Masjid Quba & Masjid Qiblatain in Madinah

 Departure & Travel Back Home

Ensure your travel documents are in order
Arrive at the airport 3-4 hours before your flight
Carry dates, Zamzam water, and souvenirs for loved ones
